Kentuckians for the Commonwealth Quilt Square

Kentuckians for the Commonwealth (KFTC) hosted their 2015 Annual Meeting and presented their quilt square for the final event of the Summer of Our Power relay. The event also featured new squares from the Southern Appalachian Mountain Stewards and Alliance for Appalachia.

“KFTC HAS A POWERFUL VISION FOR CHANGE IN KENTUCKY. WE BELIEVE WE ARE IN A POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC MOMENT WHERE WE HAVE HUGE OPPORTUNITIES TO BRING KENTUCKIANS TOGETHER ACROSS LINES OF DIFFERENCE. WE CAN FIND WHERE OUR INTERESTS MEET, INTERSECT, AND BUILD A MOVEMENT FROM THAT PLACE OF WHERE WE ALL COME TOGETHER. FROM VALUES-BASED CONVERSATIONS ABOUT OUR FUTURE, TO BUILDING LARGE, DIVERSE COALITIONS, THERE IS MUCH WORK TO BE DONE. JOIN US AT KFTC’S ANNUAL MEETING WEEKEND TO HELP FIGURE OUT HOW TO BUILD A SOCIAL MOVEMENT IN KENTUCKY THAT IS ‘ALL IN.’  “

KFTC is a statewide organization working for a just transition by building New Power in Kentucky. KFTC has been active since the early 80s, but some of their more recent campaigns include providing support to communities fighting the Bluegrass Hazardous Liquids Pipeline, joining with allies to push for comprehensive tax reform, and more!
