The Climate Justice Alliance is teaming up with Grassroots Global Justice and Right to the City for the #ItTakesRoots Pushback! Delegation to DC in coordination with trans-local actions for the upcoming inauguration. We have already started to build a bold, unified plan, consulting our collective membership, which is both oppositional and visionary, that uplifts regenerative, long-term solutions derived from frontline communities. CJA, GGJ, RTTC, and the Homes for All campaign has a collective membership representing nearly 150 organizations in 30+ states with thousands of members active in climate, racial, economic, environmental and gender justice work, housing and land rights, and Just Transition.
#ItTakesRoots Pushback! will consist of four components:
1. Training for Trainers (T4T) Training Labs on January 18th to serve as cross-space initiatives for organizers to share post-election solutions, assessments and models; build skills and collective strategies; strengthen trust and relationships across organizations.
→ for example: community defense models with base-building orientation, a vision of Just Transition with concrete examples, reproductive and gender justice analysis, Community security with the “war at home” led by homeland security (understanding surveillance and infiltration), Land and Housing Defense, Direct Action trainings, etc.
→ We aim to equip organizers to replicate and expand these trainings within their local and regional organizations and communities.
2. Strategy conversations on January 19th amongst our members and close allies on how we orient towards and past the first 100 days.
→ For example: Electoral campaigns, United Front, Ungovernable Concept and Strategy, Communications and Narrative Strategy for a broader audience, Cross-Alliance Alignment around the first 100 days and beyond.
3. Mobilization in the Streets of DC on January 20 and 21
→ join and support direct actions on inauguration day (January 20)
→ mobilize a grassroots feminist contingent of majority women and gender non-conforming people of color in the Women’s March on Washington (January 21)
4. Coordinated Trans-local actions in the streets in at least five cities on Jan 20 and 21 utilizing coordinated framing with the trainings, mobilizations and actions in DC, anchored by members locally, and in solidarity actions globally with World March of Women and other allies.
→ We aim to build momentum for future collaboration and escalation in the first 100 Days and beyond in coordination with People’s Climate March, World March of Women, and many other forward moving mass mobilizations..
